If you have a teacher whom you respect, then follow his or her direction during training. Accept that your teacher’s experience will be a good guide. Don’t ask a lot of questions. Save those for after class.

Work hard. Make a great effort. Try to expand your limits slowly.

Stop if you feel a threat to your health such as a severe shortage of breath or an impending heart attack.

But don’t obey your teacher if told to perform an illegal or immoral act. Aikido teachers should never be allowed to become the kind of cult leaders who manipulate and abuse their followers.
