In 1995 Richard Strozzi Heckler edited a collection of essays entitled AIKIDO AND THE NEW WARRIOR. Heckler wished to emphasize Aikido as a martial path of loving reconciliation. He did not put forward a model for military personnel faced with mortal danger, but rather a panorama of ideas about how to live an Aikido life. A wide variety of authors offered their personal experiences with Aikido training and how their lives were affected in many positive ways. The essays are still worth reading today. It is likely that more than one will resonate with some readers.
