Now a full year into the pandemic in Canada, those of us who love Aikido practice are sorely missing our in-dojo training. Some people in less hard hit regions have tried practicing together using strict protocols. Others have made use of various social media platforms to offer instruction and even to conduct virtual tests.

What can we do at home?

We can:

  • follow the public health guidelines to keep ourselves and others free of the deadly virus;
  • exercise to stay in shape for the rigours of real practice that we look forward to;
  • perform techniques and falls by simulating movement with an imaginary partner
  • stay in touch with family, friends, and colleagues through calls and video links;
  • find ways to help those most affected by this terrible disease.
